Rae-ann Dalgleish Artist
About the Artist
I am currently located in the very beautiful Kitimat, B.C. My preference is acrylic paints, although I do use other materials.
My interest in creating abstract art is tied to how I see and experience life. There is an element of alchemy to artwork that has no distinguishable features, no recognizable shapes, but somehow it brushes up against an emotion, or an emotional experience, that I have not reflected on in years. Lee Krasner's work does this to me often.
I am not interested in expressing myself within the confines of sameness. I know I would risk losing the essence of what I am trying to capture. To me, it is not worth the risk.
Inspiration:

I have a deep appreciation for the artists that comprise The Ninth Street Women (Lee Kransner, Helen Frankenthaler, Grace Hartigan, Elaine de Kooning and Joan Mitchell).
Shipping:

I work on larger canvas', every time I have tried to create smaller or create prints, it never felt satisfying. I understand that shipping large work can be expensive. For this reason, I have shipping tubes.
Where can you see my work?
I have had the opportunity to exhibit at CASA in Lethbridge, AB (2022) as well as having my work displayed at the Village office in Telkwa, BC (2024)
I will have one painting in a group exhibition at the Kitimat Museum and Archives in October 2026, and a solo exhibition at the Kitimat Museum and Archives November 2026.
